7 More Secrets of High-Productivity Writing and Info Product Creation
1. Decide on the writing project you need to accomplish next, more than any other. What one
piece of writing is most important to you right now? This is where your focus needs to be. Next, decide on the
specific action steps required and follow this path before any other. You can complete any writing project you want
but you can only do one thing at a time. Take a step-by-step approach and successful completion of any writing job
is
within reach.
2. Learn to say no to low pay-off tasks. It's easy to be busy with less important work. If the
task is not important today, then don't waste your time on it. Work in order from the most important task each day
to the least important. The fewer low pay-off items you spend time on, the more time you'll have for those action
steps that can make a greater impact for you.
3. Group related tasks together and knock them off in a single session. If you're writing ten
articles for example, don't write one, then post it and return to plan the next article. That approach eats up
valuable time. Completing several small tasks at once is easier as you build the momentum. Write your titles... map
out your articles... then craft all ten in one writing session. Consolidating your efforts helps you make the most
of your time. Cluster together small components and you'll get more accomplished. When you're forced to shift from
one type of activity to another and back again -- you waste valuable time trying to adjust your focus back and
forth.
4. Delete any task from your to-do list that becomes irrelevant, redundant, or unnecessary. Ask
yourself, "What's the worst thing that could happen if I dropped this item from my list?" If you can accept the
answer in a pain-free way, drop it at once.
5. Delay tasks that aren't urgent in favour of the most pressing ones. Not everything needs to
be done right now. Doing it now might not represent the best possible use of your time in the moment. Complete what
needs to be done now.
6. Develop the habit on sketching or mapping out your writing projects on paper. Mind-mapping
is a tremendously valuable tool for writers. Most successful writers will agree that planning, organizing and
outlining are key steps to high-productivity writing. Create the road map first and then follow it. It's a simple
concept and one that has proven effective.
7. Create a detailed outline before creating a single page of content. An outline requires you
to think and strategize. But the outline is the key to your entire project. With a completed outline, you know
what to do at each step, right through to the finish line.
